Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max now have over 1 million actions as well as hundreds of features. That’s amazing, and the Google Home is becoming an excellent smart home product as a result. What happens with this much functionality is that some people lose the ability to find and use all of the features. As a result, I wanted to take you through 6 features for the Google Home that few people use, and I think are useful (or fun).

Recently we have received reports of Google Home’s being connected to and broadcasting music and hateful words from a few users around campus, specifically in the Towers Dorms. To keep this from happening, please follow the instructions below to disable the Guest connection to not allow anyone else to broadcast music to your Google Home.

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Scroll to find the device card for the Chromecast or Google Home you’d like prevent from sending cast notifications.
3. In the top right corner of the device card, tap Settings Settings.
4. Under Device info, turn off Let others control your cast media Off.

This should stop others from being able to cast music or hateful words to your device.
