After Spring Break 2019, faculty, staff, and students will return to a redesigned Moodle. This upgrade will offer new features, as well as be more user-friendly. Examples of improvements include:
- Ability to hide sidebars by clicking the “hide blocks” button.
- Collapsed sidebars to hide the information inside of them.
- Moodle mobile device users will not have to scroll to the bottom of a class to view the course navigation bar. Instead, a button in the header will open a side-bar with the navigation box.
- Generic color palette of grey and blue is replaced with red and light yellow, making the page align with the university branding colors.
For a glimpse of the new navigation features:
For full screen (desktop, tablet), there is a toggle for showing/hiding all blocks; there is no more docking of individual blocks.

For mobile users, there is a different toggle for showing/hiding the blocks which offers a drop down for the blocks, instead of placing them at the bottom. There is also a ‘go to top’ button in the lower right corner.

The new Moodle theme will be available after our scheduled maintenance window of 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9th.
