Coming Soon to a Device Near You

After Spring Break 2019, faculty, staff, and students will return to a redesigned Moodle. This upgrade will offer new features, as well as be more user-friendly. Examples of improvements include:

  1. Ability to hide sidebars by clicking the “hide blocks” button.
  2. Collapsed sidebars to hide the information inside of them.
  3. Moodle mobile device users will not have to scroll to the bottom of a class to view the course navigation bar. Instead, a button in the header will open a side-bar with the navigation box.
  4. Generic color palette of grey and blue is replaced with red and light yellow, making the page align with the university branding colors.

For a glimpse of the new navigation features:

For full screen (desktop, tablet), there is a toggle for showing/hiding all blocks; there is no more docking of individual blocks.

For mobile users, there is a different toggle for showing/hiding the blocks which offers a drop down for the blocks, instead of placing them at the bottom.  There is also a ‘go to top’ button in the lower right corner.

The new Moodle theme will be available after our scheduled maintenance window of 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9th.
